After making up with the man who was generous enough to let go of the hard feelings. I felt SO rejuvenated and inclined to start something afresh in life. So I signed up at www.sparkpeople.com with the hope of losing 10 pounds in three months.
My current BMI is 22.5 which is "Healthy" and BMI <= 25 is considered healthy universally. However, the healthy BMI for an Asian body is reported to be below 23. Of course, I am below 23, but only by a marginal value.
After child birth, Asian women on an average put on 8 kgs (18 pounds). In that case, my BMI would rise up to 27.4 and voila, you'd see me in the overweight zone (or nearing the obese zone which is 29). Hence I decided to lose the extra pounds, so that I give some room for "gaining weight later".
He was kinda against it, of course, he finds me perfect. I, certainly, am not bothered about looks, I am just worried about the health complications. I do want to be medicated for diabetes and high blood pressure at 30, when I can very well do my homework now.
10 pounds (5kgs) in 3 months works at the rate of 1 pound a week (0.5 kg a week) I understand that weight loss is not a linear variation but exponential. Shedding off the first 4 pounds is going to be easier than the last 6 pounds. But if not now, when else? ;)
So. 14th of July 2009, is the target (weight loss) date.
I am going to enjoy this tightrope walking, I guess :D
Especially when it involves exclusion of Colas, Tofus and Cheese.

Good resolve. Dont go too scientifically about it. Simple rule is tokeep count of caloreis which y ou take in and what you expend. Have a good breakfast but when it comes to lunch or dinner, stop eating when you are half full. If you were consuming 200 gms of rice, make it 100gms. If you feel hungry eat salads, sprouts or fruits with low caloreis like melons, apple etc. avoid m angoes and bananas. Check your weight on the same scale once a week not every day. You will lose a fair amoutn of your avoiardupois within a month. Dont pay through your nose for the advertised courses. Donot take any drugs allopathic or ayaurvedic which claim to dissolve fat and reduce weight. They are all peddledl by hucksters whowant to make a quick buck. There is no short cut to weight reduction.
ReplyDeletegood resolve. You are certainly not overweight but there seems to be so me scope for reduction. Dont go by advertisements which promise weight reduction within weeks They are mostlyh money making gimmicks. Just keep a watcho n your calories intake and caloaries expended. Eat well at breakfast but get up when you are half fu ll at lunch and dinner table. If you feel hungry eat salads, sprouts and low calorie fruits like melons, apples and papaya. Dont take any drugs allopathic or ayurvedic claiming to metabolise fats. They are all sham. Note your weight on the same scale every week not daily. Wallk 3 to 4 km a day. Results are bound to show within a month or so.
